Triple Crown Inspiration
Isn’t it most every girls dream to have a horse of her own? To experience the smell of fresh hay, the warmth of the horse’s breath as they smell your hand in greeting, and their soft hair brushing your face as you embrace their neck in a hug? Growing up on a horse farm I was able to experience all of this and more! Then when my parents acquired a stallion whose Great Great Grandfather was Secretariat, the dream of one day being in the stands at any of the Triple Crown Races became an inspiration. Each year, I would be intrigued by the dresses and the hats that the ladies in attendance would wear. I would watch as on-lookers would have picnics on the lawn in the in-field. The overall prestige and elegance in which the horse owners presented themselves created a memorable and inviting atmosphere.
So for this styled wedding, we wanted to channel the ambiance of the most enjoyed races in thoroughbred history. Since The Barns were redesigned to emulate the beauty and exquisite features found at a high-end equestrian farm, we made sure to gather decor that signify each of the races. We paired the traditional red and white gingham pattern with black-eyed susans, sunflowers, and roses and accented the red linens with pearl napkin rings. The knee-length bridal gown was chosen for it’s elegant and fun design and twirling ability. The ivory fascinator headpiece was an important accessory since that is one of the most style-worthy pieces on race day. The jewelry was chosen to accent the pearl napkin rings and add that extra sparkle with the diamond etching. To further tie the color scheme together, the bridal shoes were close-toed red flats with a slight wedge. Overall, we wanted to put an upscale twist on a picnic you would have on race day at the Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont.
